Time interviews Guillermo Del Toro on Vampires

6 06 2009

Guillermo Del Toro is well known for his direction of such hits as Pan’s Labyrinth, Blade 2, and the Hellboy series.  This time, however, he is trading his cinemetagraphy skills for a pen and paper, as he prepares to complete first in a trilogy of vampire novels entitled “The Strain“.

Co-written with Chuck Hogan (of “Killing Moon” fame), The Strain “opens with a plane that lands in New York City, lights off, windows drawn, everyone seemingly dead. Naturally, it gets worse from there.” [Time]

In this one-on-one interview, Del Toro answers questions about the vampire in modern society,  his love for fantasy and science fiction, and of course, his new book.
